GhostScript / GSview Download
In view of numerous accesses to our GhostScript/GSview download
page from many countries we decided to provide an English version.
Please note the following:
- The versions you find here are GhostScript 4.03 and GSview 2.1.
We will not update them frequently,
hence do not expect them to be the most recent.
- This is only the version for Windows 3.1 or Windows 95.
To install the package on your PC, proceed as follows:
- Download the files gs403ini.zip, gs403w32.zip,
gs403fn1.zip, and gsview21.exe.
- Create a directory (e.g. c:\xxx) on the hard disk of
your PC, and copy the files listed above to this directory
- Run gsview21.exe under DOS or Windows.
This process will extract some files from the archive,
including setup.exe.
Note: If the program does not unpack files, but instead terminates
with the error message "HeaderC corrupted", perhaps your
browser treated the exe-file as a text and changed the UNIX EOL
to DOS format (inserting a char 13 before every char 10). To avoid
this, the following trick might work: download the exe-file as
gsview21.txt, and then rename it to gsview21.exe.
Anyway, check the file sizes after downloading.
- Run the install program c:\xxx\setup.exe under Windows,
answer "Ok" or "Yes" whenever you are prompted
to confirm some action.
- GSview is now ready to be used. The first time you call it
you will be asked some questions. Confirm all of them by clicking
the "Yes" button.
- The directory c:\xxx and the files contained in it
are no longer necessary; you may delete them.
The package uses about 6 MB of disk space. Note that some more
space is required for the install procedure (12 MB should suffice).
After installation, please read the files c:\gstools\gs4.03\public
(GhostScript) and c:\gstools\gsview\license (GSview) to
be informed about the conditions of use and distribution of the software.
Remark: The file gsview21.exe has been created by
unpacking gsview21.zip, removing the OS/2 installation files,
and packing them to a self-extracting archive (so PKUNZIP is not
needed). Instead of the exe-file, you may as well download the original
zip-file here.
If you do so, then unzip this file instead of performing step 3 of the
installation procedure described above.
The zip-files listed here have been downloaded from
